Designer Tip- The Best Way to Display Your China

Designer Tip- The Best Way to Display Your ChinaBlog images 003

Lots of couples wind up with more china then they even know what to do with.  Couples register for a china pattern when they get married, and then along the way they inherit someone’s grandmother china too.  The issue becomes what should you display and what should you store, and where.china cabinet

I recently had the pleasure of helping one of my good clients with exactly this task.   They didn’t even know where to begin. Both sets of their china were beautiful, but for me the decision was clear.  The unique antique set that they had inherited was something you wouldn’t normally see, so I choose to display that set in the china cabinet that we recently ordered.  The set that they registered for when they got married although beautiful was one I have seen before, so that set fit nicely in their buffet cabinet.Blog images 001

When I set up a china cabinet, I like to layer and stack the pieces so that I’m able to fit everything and display it in an interesting way.   I also like to sprinkle some crystal pieces throughout china cabinet for added interested and storage.

Designer Bonus Tip: Once you have everything looking good in your china cabinet; take a photo so that after the next holiday or dinner party you can quickly and easily set it back up again by referring to photo.

  1. I don’t know why people want or need chinaware at home. What happens is that it ends up too precious to use that even on special occasions, the beautiful pieces are overlooked. It’s wonderful to have and display though, but chances are that people would rather keep them safe and unbroken in the cupboards!
