Design Tip: Hiding your cords and wires
Is your home overrun with wires and cords? In this age of cutting edge technology, we have more “stuff” plugged in than ever. Having a mess of cords, plugs, and wires is a very common issue, but it’s not pleasant. Believe it or not, hiding the chaos of unsightly cords and wirers may be easier than you’d think.
There are great fasteners and tubes that you can use to organize your cords when you have run long extensions through a room. There are also now accent pieces that help organize items that need to be charged on a daily basis.
One of my simplest design secret tips is to place a plant (fake or real) in front of the wall plug to hide the cords that are plugged in there. In some room designs when there isn’t a nearby outlet, I run an extension cord under an area rug in order to get a few lamps on that side of the room. That way, no one will trip on the cords or have to look at them, either.
