When designing your space, no matter what room you’re working on, think outside the box and be daring! Taking chances has many rewards, whereas “playing it safe” usually leads to disappointment. I have seen so many clients go the neutral-beige route, only to wind up with bland and boring, which is not what anyone really wants. Be brave, be bold and don’t be afraid to try something new. If this idea scares you, you’re not alone! My advice is to start small. Pick an end table that you are drawn to, yet makes you a little nervous about using in your home. When you discover how fantastic it looks, you’ll have more confidence to go further on your next project.
I’m currently working on a very out of the box 2 bedroom Condo in Jersey City with an amazing view of Manhattan’s sky line. The young professional couple is having great fun pushing the boundaries, and I can’t wait to be able to post finished photos of this project. We are installing a floating, round bed in their master bedroom, which may sound off the wall (pun intended), but with the small space and placement of doors and windows on every single wall, it actually works the best. Floating a round bed in the middle of the room and adding custom built corner dressers was the best solution to the awkward layout of this room.
Sometimes you have to think a little more creatively to get the best results. If you are too scared of making mistakes, it means it’s time to hire a professional to get the expert advice you need.
