ASID and What That Means
Do you know what ASID is? I once had someone ask me if I was an “acid designer”, not realizing it’s A.S.I.D., which stands for American Society of Interior Design. I couldn’t help myself; my sarcasm kicked in, and I said, “I do know some “acid designers! but I think you meant ASID.” It’s been my experience that there are a lot of people who have heard of it, but don’t quite get what it’s all about. ASID is like most associations – it promotes the field of interior design, sets high industry standards and provides continuing education. When you hire an ASID designer, you know you’re getting a professional, not just anyone who thinks she has an eye for color or took a workshop on decorating.
I am a proud associate member of ASID and will be the Chair of the Website Committee this year, as well as a leader of one of the Emerging Professional groups. We recently had a wonderful Pass the Gavel and awards dinner for our NJ chapter. As you can see from these photos, it was a great evening, and I’m excited to part of ASID. It’s been an invaluable experience for me and my growing business.
