Changing Your Décor with the Seasons
When was the last time you gave your home a quick and easy face lift? Studies have shown that the human eye doesn’t notice much unless there is a change in the environment. I frequently see this in my design business when I show people pictures of their home that I take with my camera. Homeowners are often shocked at what they see where they live. I had on client, a prosecutor, actually say that the photo of her home look like a “crime scene photo”. It just proves that we get used to seeing the same things every day, so the mess or the project you meant to get to can easily be forgotten about.
One way that I keep my own home spruced up is by changing up my décor with the seasons and the holidays. Small changes can make a big difference. You can change out your dining room centerpieces, candle holders, floral arrangements and even pillows with the different seasons to keep your home fresh and welcoming.
To make this switch-over hassle free, I dedicate a portion of a closet or cupboard for easy accessibility. There’s no need to climb into the attic every few months, especial when it’s the smaller accessories that are changed up. There are a few spots in my home that I like to arrange differently throughout out the year. Where will you decide to spruce up?
