Traditional Home Magazine

Traditional Home Magazine DSC_2696

As someone who has enjoyed the magazine Traditional Home for so many years, I was ecstatic to find out that I would be feature on it glossy pages!  It is a dream come true to be included such a prestigious and well know magazine as Traditional Home.  The issue that my room will be in comes out this May!

I have been feature in other local and even national magazines before, but this means more to me than all of those combined.  I only found about a week ago when I received the email with interview questions about the bedroom that I designed for a Show House.

Here are a few question and answers from that Traditional Home Interview:

What were some key elements you incorporated into the bedroom? Why did you include these pieces?

Some of the key elements in this bedroom are the dressing area, playful artwork, and mix of finishes on the furniture pieces.  I personally am not of fan of a room being too “matchy”, I much prefer to have things complement each other and look collected instead of plopped from a showroom. This bedroom has a mix of dark traditional wood pieces, mirrored, and silver leaf finishes furniture for that collected designer look.

What inspired your bedroom’s design?

I design with my client’s needs in mind and since this was a show house I imaged the family that would live in the house and this room would be their teenage daughters.  The room is therefore feminine and has some playful whimsy.  I also considered that once the imaged daughter went off to college the room would become a guest bedroom with any changes needed.

What did you want guests to experience in your space?

I wanted people to walk in and not want to leave.  For the room to a peaceful relaxing retreat from the rest of the world.

I am so excited to be featured on the pages of Traditional Home magazine since it means being among the best designers in the world.  It’s truly an honor and I will be walking on clouds for quite a while!  Keep on eye for this issue of Traditional Home magazine to hit the racks late April.  If you live in my area of Northern NJ you might not see it since I plan to buy as many copies as I can find.

  1. I love what you have done with the room so it is not a wonder that it gets to have its own page in the traditional home magazine which it truly deserves. I will be moving out soon and as soon as the removal services have fully helped us to move our things in, I will begin decorating the new place to look as similar as it is to your interior design. I think this country look is timeless and creates a homely feel.
