Top 5 Trends from Fall 2016 Furniture Market

As an interior design that has to pay attention to trends, without blindly following them, I attend trade shows and there is no bigger or better than the High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina.  My recent trip was fun and full of surprises!

The top 5 trends of note are as follows:

1- Poster Beds!  I know…don’t worry upholstered headboards are still on top, but it seemed every manufacture had at least one fabulous Poster Bed shown.

2- Gold is everywhere and it’s stunning!  The gold tone can vary from rose gold, copper, and brassy gold.

3- Mixing materials in one piece created a lot of interest and were very popular among all the showrooms.  There was wood mixed with, stone or metal, even leather details mixed in.

4- Two tone details of wood finishes and paints on one piece.  It was used to high light edges and I have to say it quite handsome.

5- Sculptural piece that looks more like art then furniture!  Interesting shapes and an artsy feeling made a few key pieces stand out in each showroom.
