When you hire an interior designer it’s good to know what you can expect. You should know more than what colors your interior designer plans to use. You should have a clear understanding of what the process is and the timeline for that process.
I was surprised when I recently met a young family who were unhappy with their current designers. They invited me to see if I could help them with their home, hoping to start over with a new interior designer. I was hesitate to meet them, and not excited about the idea of picking up where someone else left off, but after hearing their story I agreed.
Every designer will work a little different, but I was amazed at what little information this young family had from their designers after working with them for several months. These people didn’t even have floor plans of the one room of furniture they have already purchased. They had no idea when they would meet their designer again to get the rest of their home designed done. With a beautiful 4 bedroom new home this family was excited to get it all right and thought they had hired designers who could make that happen.
When I work with a client they know exactly what I will do for them and when, they also know what the design will cost. I have specially designed packages for a variety of ways to help my clients with as much or as little as they want. My simple step by step process ensures my clients get from where they are to where they want to be. My clients are presented with a few options on just about every decision from floor plans to what table lamp would be best. We work together to create the home they will love, after all I don’t live there, they do.
Hiring an interior designer shouldn’t be stressful; it should put you at ease, with knowledge that you have hired an expert. Don’t be afraid to spend a little more time to interview a few interior designers to ensure you know what you are getting.
