How to Save Money on Framing Art Work
Custom framing is a costly investment that will protect and enhance your art work. What happens when you move and your color scheme changes with the new house? Do you have to re-frame and mat all your art work to match the new colors?
This was one of my client’s fears as we embarked on completing the finishing touches of their homes interiors. I had been with them the whole way, helping them to design their home from concept to completion. With all the furniture delivered and in its rightful place it was now time to hang their art, and place their accent pieces.
My clients had nicely put out all of their art work in one room; this made my job of figuring out what should go where quick and easy. For me, placing art work and accessories is like a puzzle, and I happen to be very good at this type of conceptual thinking.
Once I had the paintings and prints in the rooms where they looked best I was able to give my clients some good news. There would be no need to spend any money on re-framing any of their art work to match, saving them at least $900. Their collection of prints and paintings blending beautifully with their furnishing and the rooms on a whole, as is.
Designer Tip: Your art doesn’t need to match your room BUT your frames need to match each other. For example you should have all black frames in one room, or all gold; not one gold and one black finish. Having all the same frame color on the art work of one room gives a consistent design look.
