As a designer, I get inspired by things all around me, and I’m always spotting trends in the market. Lately, I can’t help but notice how creative ottomans are in both the many ways we use them and in the variations of styles.
There’s been a growing demand for ottomans as coffee tables, especially when they have built in trays, so your drink can rest safely upright. I have seen ottomans used for seating at kitchen tables and even as kitchen islands. They also remain popular for the more traditional use with club chair for relaxing.
There are so many styles for ottomans that it’s hard to choose a favorite. The shape options vary from the traditional round, square and rectangles to more creative shapes like octagon, oval, and even star-shaped. The customizable options are endless as well. Most ottomans have tons of fabric and nail head choices as well as tufted, or tightly upholstered tops.
Ottomans are everywhere, and they offer a big style statement in a small package. They can be an area where you can be a little more daring in your fabric pick, adding a pop of strong color or even a louder print to an otherwise subdued space. Don’t be afraid to have a little fun and be creative with ottomans for your home.
