Every Home deserves to have some original artwork. When choosing your piece, you should consider how it fits in to the overall design of the space you to plan to hang it. It does not need to “match” your couch exactly, but it should blend somewhat with the colors of you room. More than anything else, the style should go. What do I mean by that? If you have French style furnishings, a Southwest painting will look out of place. A lot of people get hung up on the matching, but that’s a mistake. You can always frame the artwork with a mat board that ties some coordinating color in the room.
Owning original artwork doesn’t need to cost thousands. If you’re hoping to buy the next Vincent Van Gogh, that’s always a possibility, but so is winning the lottery. Vincent Van Gogh didn’t sell his art while he was a live, and he wasn’t “discovered” immediately after his death, either. The artist doesn’t have to be famous for the piece to look beautiful. If you don’t have a degree in art history, that’s okay. Don’t overthink the purchase of original artwork; find a piece that speaks to you. Follow your heart and you can’t go wrong.
